Eugenia "Jean" Marie Williams Fitzmorris' Obituary
Eugenia “Jean” Marie Williams Fitzmorris, age 97, was born December 19, 1926 and passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024. She grew up in Amite County, Smithdale, Mississippi, and lived in the New Orleans area for the past 76 years. Jean received her BS degree in Biology from Louisiana State University, and later received a BS in Education from the University of New Orleans. She retired after teaching Biology for 19 years at Marion Abramson High School. A long-time member of Suburban Baptist Church, she was active in Women’s, and Girls’ Mission organizations. She dedicated herself to her family, church, and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family throughout the United States and abroad.
Beloved wife of the late Adrian Enos Fitzmorris, and mother of four children: Stephen Adrian Fitzmorris (Catherine), Gary Eugene Fitzmorris, Pamela Kay Fitzmorris Hogan (Tracy), and Michael Wesley Fitzmorris (Suzette); and nine grandchildren: Laura, Rachel, Mark, Jeffrey, Paul, David, Stephanie, Claire, and Kevin; and twelve great-grandchildren: Adam, Henry, Matthew, Mary James, William, Sarah, Rebecca, Patrick, Dominick, Logan, Jacob, and Sienna. Jean is predeceased by her parents, Ras Eugene Williams and Mary L. Cruise Williams; and thirteen brothers and sisters: Winton Eugene Williams, Lloyd Cruise Williams, Gladys Ira Williams Fortenberry, Dennie Laverne Williams Scott, Clarence Emerel Williams, Carrie Naomi Williams Carruth, Jewell Ross Williams, Norma Elaine Williams Hughey, Benjamin Bert Williams, Mildred Evelyn Williams Selman, Edna Earline Williams Cooper Tyson, Clifton Elwood Williams, and Hilda Edwinta Williams Albritton.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, at 1:00 pm at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, 20116 Stafford Road, Covington, LA.
