My prayers and condolences are with the Bennett family and the St. Paul community. As a fellow coach, who came to know Gene over 25 years of coaching basketball, he was a credit to the profession. He loved the game and, more importantly, the young men that he coached. My thoughts are with his family and the St. Paul community. He will be sorely missed, especially as the new school year begins. Gene will be missed dearly by all who's lives he touched. My admiration for him and his family is unsurpassed. His work on this earth will live on forever.

We will all miss Coach Bennett--a great educator, coach and mentor who touched so many lives. His legacy will live on in the many careers he helped shape, in the life lessons he taught us, in the friendship he gave us.

Dear Gay , Britton and Brandon, Corky and I were honored to be a part of the celebration of Gene's life . It was indeed a magnificent tribute to your husband, our friend . Those years at St. Pauls between l967 and l976 were happy times not only for that coaching staff , ( McGreevy, Degravelle, Peters) but also for our families too. Gay, I applaud you for the courage you displayed in presenting such a meaningful eulogy of the love of your life! We believe.... When someone you love becomes a memory... The memory becomes a treasure !

His warm and friendly nature enveloped all who entered his room. So happy I knew him, if only for a short time. Thinking of you always and God bless.
