Ernest Odell Welch's Obituary
Ernest Odell Welch passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Baton Rouge, LA.
Beloved husband of the late Adele B. Welch; father of Thomas Michael Welch and his wife Donna; step-father of Edith Slaton and her husband Gaynell; brother of Elowine W. McCoy and Genola W. Walker. He is also survived by 2 Granddaughters, 1 Great-Grandson, 2 Step-Grandchildren and 5 Step-Great-Grandchildren. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his mother, Junie Mae Franklin Welch and his father, Howard Welch.
Age 84 years, a native of Epps, LA, he was a resident of Covington, LA for 42 years. He retired as the Guidance Counselor at Covington High School and was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II and obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He then joined the United States Army Reserves and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend graveside services on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Cemetery in Ringgold, LA. Visitation will be on Thursday June 21, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 and on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Rockett Funeral Home, 2438 Military Road, Ringgold, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, Monroe, LA.
