Ernest J. Route's Obituary
Ernest J. Route of Covington, LA passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was born on November 11, 1926 in Covington, LA to Clarence and Alma (Robertson) Route.
Ernest attended school in Slidell before he attended Xavier University in New Orleans. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II specializing as an electric welder. Ernest was also a great businessman.
Ernest is survived by his beloved wife, Mattie (Crain) Route; his children Brenda Route, Kyle Route (Shawn) and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters Almetta Johnson of Warner Robins, GA and Veverly Route of Covington, LA, and his brothers Gregory Route of Franklinton, LA and Larry Route of Covington, LA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ernest is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sons Jefferey Paul Route, Eugene Route, and Eugene Connelly, and his brothers Clarence Route, Jr., and Everett Route.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Modern Home Health & Hospice in Hammond, LA, and Dr. Roy Saguiguit and staff in Covington, LA for their dedication and excellent care provided to Ernest.
