Ernest Wilson Bryant's Obituary
Earnest Wilson Bryant at his home in Covington, LA on May 27, 2006. Born in Locust Point, NJ August 22, 1923. Veteran of U.S. Coast Guard, W W II. He served in the South Pacific Theatre. 1950 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University; served as Senior Class President. Past member and president of SLU Alumni. Received his Masters Degree from Louisiana State University. Long teaching career including Louisiana Tech University, Valley Forge Academy, and Covington High School. He had 27 years of service in the Army Reserve and Louisiana National Guard (retired). Lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Active for many years on Post, District, State and National levels of VFW. He served as Post Commander of Ivan Huval Post # 7286. He was also a past member of the American Legion. Beloved husband of Margaret J. Bryant. Father of Bonnie B. Gilhaus and Melinda B. Seawall. Step-father of Lois G. Hicks, Brenda G. Gulsby, Gail G. Allulli and Julie G. Motichek. Also survived by 14 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Wilson W. Bryant and Olga M. Uhlen Bryant, Step-son Sidney “Bubby” Glass, grandson Alan Gist & son-in-law Harry Gist, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Tuesday May 30, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation on Monday May 29, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time.
