Emmy Lou was a wonderful aunt. Brenda, please know that you and your family are very much in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time. You have been such a generous and devoted daughter and I know that you will surely miss your dear Mama. No doubt, Mere, Pere and all the Pecot's are having a beautiful reunion in heaven today!
Dear Brenda (& Family), I'm so very sorry about your mother's passing. I know she's enjoying her eternal reward with our Lord and hope that she and my mother are having a nice reunion already. My sincerest sympathy to you all and prayers for my Aunt Emmy. I always loved her very much.
Brenda, honey I wish I could be there. Please know that I love you and I am with you in spirit. Here are a few memories I have of your Mother.
Emmy Lou was my aunt. And, being the youngest in her family was only 14 when I was born. My first memory was when I was four or five. It was close to Christmas and I was sitting playing with my paper dolls. Emmy Lou came in and asked what Santa was bringing me. Then she sat me in her lap and sang “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. I can’t help smiling when I think of this. For my first communion she gave me a sterling silver rosary. I still have it.
I remember when she and my Uncle Roman would come over for every week for dinner. My grandmother used to talk about her “baby girl” coming to visit with great joy. It was always fun listening to Uncle Roman’s stories of when he was a drummer. He was such a wonderful storyteller. They would both come over at Christmas and bring presents for Rita Ann and myself. Often, they were our only gifts from the family under the tree. Emmy Lou never forgot us. I loved them both so much.
When Brenda was born, they were both so proud of their new baby girl. No child was ever wanted more.
So many of my fondest childhood memories include Emmy Lou. I will always remember her.
I know this is a very sad time for your family. I have many happy memories of your Mom. I remember a time when she went to the Parish Fair in New Iberia. She spent so much money trying to win you a stuffed animal. Or the times when her hearing would play tricks on her and we would say one thing and she would answer something completly different. Emmy Lou was a wonderful aunt. Your precious memories will be with you always. Diane
