Elsie Diaz Jenkins O'Keefe's Obituary
Mrs. Elsie Diaz Jenkins O’Keefe was tenderly whisked, by angel’s wings, to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Her earthly journey ended surrounded by her family. She leaves this life to join many of her loved ones. She does not leave us empty handed, however, as she left with us her deep love for family and its unbreakable bond.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 6, 1934, she was the youngest child of Alcide Joseph Diaz and Fabiola Bridgette Pellegrin Diaz.
In years past, she worked as a retail sales person and later in public food services. She excelled at her work because one of her greatest strengths was working with people. She not only loved people but felt everyone around her must eat! Her favorite and most loved and lifelong position was “Motherhood.”
In addition to her parents and 7 siblings, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larkin Calvin Jenkins Sr., second husband Aron Arnold O’Keefe and two grandchildren, Brian Keith Smith and Jennifer Rechelle Clark.
She is survived by one son: Larkin Calvin Jenkins, Jr. of Covington, Louisiana (wife Phoebe) and four daughters: Lorraine Ross of Mary Esther, Florida (husband Pete), Sharon Marvin of Hollywood, Alabama (husband Bernard), Susan Jenkins of Covington, Louisiana and Linda Smith (husband Keith) of Covington, Louisiana. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Freedom House Church of God, 79236 LA 40, Covington, LA on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow at Freedom House Church of God Cemetery.
