Elliott Clifton Roberts Sr.'s Obituary
Elliott Clifton Roberts, Sr., 90, of Covington, LA passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born on January 20, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to Charles Patrick Roberts and Margianna Ledeatte Roberts.
Elliott is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Moory Roberts; his children, Dr. Elliott Roberts, Jr.(Lisa), Jay Roberts (Christina), Chaaze Roberts, Sondra Vickery (Mike) and Errol Roberts (Danielle); his step-children, Gene Mills (Blanche), Lisa Dougherty, Beth Voss, (Tom), Chris LeBlanc (Shannon) and Philip LeBlanc; 26 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother Enos Roberts (Emily).
Elliott is preceded in death by his brother, Abner and his parents.
Elliott was a healthcare executive of unique accomplishment. In 1998, he was inducted into the Modern Healthcare Hall of Fame. Until 2014 he served as Professor at LSU Health Sciences Center following 40 years as CEO at major urban hospitals including Charity Hospital-NO, Cook County Hospital-Chicago, Harlem Hospital-NY and Detroit General Hospital.
Elliott received an MBA from The George Washington University where he was honored as Distinguished Alumni in 1999. A former BOT member of The American Hospital Association, he was at the core of national health policy as he served in leadership roles in the AHA, LHA, National Association of Public Hospitals & the Metropolitan Hospital Council of NO. He served until recently on the boards of LA Children’s Hospital Medical Center, The Blood Center, eQHealth Solutions and the Medical Center of LA Foundation. He has been recognized for achievements in healthcare many times including being named one of the top 25 players in the field in 2001.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mandeville, LA, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Greenwood Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Elliott to be made to support the Elliott C. Roberts Scholarship Program, Institute for Diversity www.diversityconnection.org .
