Ellen Riggs Heintz's Obituary
Ellen Riggs Heintz died on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Christwood Retirement Home in Covington, Louisiana.
She was the beloved wife of Louis Cochran Heintz of Covington. Ellen Mary was born in Baton Rouge, LA on December 28th, 1923 to William Alvin Riggs and Winifred Colite Maine. She was the sister of the late Winifred Riggs Smith Cogswell, Laura Riggs Fleischman and Mary William “Billie” Riggs Eustis.
She is survived by her children Lucie Heintz Walters, Susan Heintz Phillips and son-in-law Troy Phillips her son Ludwig Cochran Heintz, MD and daughter-in-law Beth Beyl Heintz. She was a caring and loving grandmother to Marty Magnani, Summer Magnani Lumino, Skyler Courtney, Lindsay M. Walters, Ludwig C. Heintz II, Laura H. Prisco, Caroline J. Heintz, Forrest Riggs Heintz, Elliott B. Heintz, and William T. Heintz. Her great grandchildren are Amanda Cozette Lumino, Kyle Isaac Heintz, Louis Cochran Heintz, and Joseph Michael Prisco III. She was loved by her nieces and nephews.
Ellen was a dedicated nurse for many years at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was an active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution and other organizations.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 at 3:00 PM.
Visiting hours will begin at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow services at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covington Food Bank, 840 N. Columbia St., Covington, LA 70433.
