Elleen Plunkett Mashburn's Obituary
Elleen Plunkett Mashburn, at the age of 79, entered eternal rest peacefully on Sunday afternoon, December 10, 2023, at Avanti Senior Living surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Orleans, LA on November 27, 1944, to Joseph Harbeson Plunkett and Helen Key Plunkett.
She is survived by her two adoring sons, Joseph Patton “Pat” Mashburn Jr. of Hammond, and Kevin Bradley Mashburn (Carolyn Croxton Mashburn) of Mandeville. Elleen was the very proud grandmother of Bradley David Mashburn of Atlanta and Jack Stirling Mashburn of New Orleans. She was a caring sibling of Kenneth Plunkett. Elleen will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Elleen was preceded in death by her loving husband Joesph Patton “Pat” Mashburn Sr., her parents, and her brother Michael Plunkett.
At the age of six, Elleen moved to Bay St. Louis, MS where she graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, before returning to Louisiana and graduating from LSU. Over the years, having lived in Hammond, Baton Rouge and retiring back to Bay St. Louis, Elleen made many long-lasting friendships and lived life to the fullest.
Elleen was a loving, compassionate, and principled woman. She was a lover of nature and an avid bird watcher. Elleen also loved cooking, dancing, and giving big smiles and hugs. She loved to travel and would often tell stories of her adventures in Africa, Europe, and the Galapagos Islands. Her true passion was spending time with her family and friends, and she was a thoughtful and caring “Grammy” to her grandchildren, Bradley, and Jack. Elleen was unique and impeccable, well respected and loved. She was a completely free spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. This world has lost a happy dancer, but heaven has gained one.
The Mashburn family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by the Avanti Senior Living Facility and all of her loving caregivers that have helped us so much along the way.
