Elizabeth Hanford Salter's Obituary
View Video Tribute Elizabeth “Betty” Hanford Salter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt died at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Betty was born in New Orleans to the late Albert W. and Manon Martin Hanford and was a resident of Covington for the past 52 years. She graduated from Loyola University, briefly worked with the District Attorney’s Office of the 22nd Judicial District before going to work with the law firm of Rodrigue and Rodrigue. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church and after her retirement was an active volunteer for the Food Bank, St. Peter Alter Society and the St. Tammany Hospital Gild. Her greatest passion was Covington High Football and she was a true Blue and Gold fan to the end. Betty was cherished and will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, Joseph “Jack” Salter; children Rick and Cindy Salter, Kim Salter, Leslie and Keith Long, Lori Salter, Lisa and Bubby Core, Kelly and Bruce Crouch; grandchildren Greg (Collette), Glenn (Courtney), Trent, Jonathan and Scott Salter, Travis, Paige, Joseph, and Morgan Long, Bridget and Brett Krysan, Lacee, Kristen, Kari, Caitlin and Trace Core, Kyle, Eric and Rhett Crouch. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Dakota Rose Salter, one sister Mary H. (Bill) Ferrer and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Scott William Salter and her sister Vicki Iiams. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and their staff at Renal South Dialysis Center and also for the compassion and care she received at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 1:30 PM from St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will begin at the Church Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow Mass at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank, 840 N. Columbia St., Covington, LA 70433 or to the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Foundation, 1202 S. Tyler St., Covington, LA 70433.
