Elizabeth Price Mayer's Obituary
Elizabeth (Price) Mayer, on Wednesday, October 11, 2006.
She was born on June 16, 1925 in Wyoming, PA to the late Adah Matthews Price and the late Gordon Howell Price. She was a resident of Abita Springs, LA for the past 20 years and former resident of Upstate New York for 50 years prior.
She was a 1974 graduate of Eisenhower College, graduating Magna Cum Laude BA in Anthropology. An author, artist, model, pilot, golfer, horseback rider and figure skater, she was a committed naturalist whose paintings reflected her love of nature.
Mrs. Mayer was a member of the Christian Women’s Club; the St. Tammany Art Association; the Northlake Newcomers Club; the National Association of Realtors; the Covington Community Concert Association; the Taylor Brown Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as an officer; The New Paltz Artist Association; the Seneca Falls Historical Society; the Ithaca College Womens Club as served as its president; founder and first leader of the National Women’s Hall of Fame; and a columnist for The Reveille and the St. Tammany News.
She is survived by her son, Joseph N. Mayer, III and his wife Kimberly; a grandson, Joseph “Nelson” Mayer, IV; and a granddaughter, Martina Elizabeth Mayer.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and a brother, G. Wayne Price.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Memorial Services on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 1:00 PM from St. Timothy Methodist Church – Servant Campus, 701 Florida Street, Mandeville, LA 70448.
The family would prefer memorials to the St. Tammany Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Ave, Covington, LA 70433.
