Elizabeth "Betty" Elaine Fielding's Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Hymel Fielding went Home to Our Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2016. She was born on Friday, September 5, 1930 in New Orleans, LA to Blanche Bourgeois and Esteve J. Hymel and was a long time resident of Metairie, LA.
A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by six children - Linda Fielding Savage (Michael, Sr.), Philip E. Fielding, Jr., Leslie F. Gagnet (Philip J.), Stephanie E. Fielding, Geralyn A. Fielding and Edith "Beckey" Fielding Myers; 13 grandchildren - Maj. Randolph T. Bosch USAF, Lauren Savage Heflin, Michael Savage, Jr., Nikki Fielding Thibodeaux, Krista Fielding Combs, Richard Fielding, Jr., Raven Fielding Benoit, Brandon Fielding, Chelsea Fielding, Colette Gagnet Sutley, Robert Gagnet, Madeline Myers, Everett Myers, and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Philip E. Fielding, Sr.; one son - Richard H. Fielding, Sr.; and two brothers - James T., Sr. and Gerard J. Hymel, Sr.
She worked for many years at Tidewater Marine Co. as Benefit Administrator until her retirement. She was also a member of the Step Sisters of NOLA and was a past president of the Quelles Nouvelles Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
Betty loved to crochet especially for all of her babies. It was her mission to never let anyone she knew go without a place to stay, food on their table, or who just needed to be loved. She was Momma to everyone she knew.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2016 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours on Friday will begin at 12 Noon.
Interment will take place at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA.
