Eleanor Woodward Westfeldt's Obituary
Eleanor Woodward Westfeldt died peacefully at her home in the Christwood community on June 30, 2014. She was 88 years old. Ellie was the daughter of Carl Ellsworth Woodward and Mollie Holland Woodward. She was a graduate of Isidore Newman School and attended Newcomb College. Ellie served as a nurse's aide at Charity Hospital during World War II. She was a member of the Junior League of New Orleans, the New Orleans Country Club, Garden Study Club of New Orleans, the Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville, NC, and the French Broad River Garden Club in Asheville.
She is survived by her daughter, Mollie Wynn Lowe, and son, William Baker Wynn, Jr., and his wife, Virginia Shelley Wynn, all of Charlotte, NC and four grandchildren, Walker Woodward Lowe and his wife, Iveth, Michael Ellsworth Lowe, William Myles Wynn and his wife, Grace, and Shelley Woodward Wynn. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Mollie Lowe and Walker Lowe, Jr. Her husbands, George G. Westfeldt, Jr. and Hendrik VanVoorthuysen, and her granddaughter, Mollie Holland Lowe, preceded her in death.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Chapel, 1516 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA at 11:00 am on July 21, 2014. The reception will be announced at the chapel and will follow the service. Interment will be private. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Chapel, 1516 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130 or Bridge House, 4150 Earhart Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70125.
