Eldon Loyd's Obituary
Eldon “Chubby” Loyd was born in Covington, LA on July 15, 1924 and went home to be with his Lord on March 10, 2009.
“Chubby” was a World War II Veteran, retired Project Engineer with the Louisiana Department of Highways and a resident of Austin, TX for the past three years. He loved God, his family, and his many friends. He leaves a true example of a life lived with integrity and honesty.He will be greatly missed.
“Chubby” is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Idell Johnson Loyd, a brother, Ezra, a sister, Edith, and brother-in-law, Eddie Heck. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Lois McIntyre Loyd; daughter, Cheryl Barnes and her husband, Greg of Austin, TX; his son, Lamar Loyd and wife, Sandra of Houston, TX; his son, Darrell Loyd and wife, Kathleen of Dallas, TX; and his son Byron Loyd of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his sisters, Hazel Heck, Ruth Loyd, Evelyn Wright, and brother-in-law, George Wright; his brother-in-law, Eugene McIntyre and sister-in-law Hazel; his nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of Eldon’s homegoing at Shepherd's Care Ministries, 20115 Highway 1081, Covington, LA 70435 on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:00 PM.
Visitation at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday, AT THE CHURCH, from 11:00 AM until service time.
The family wishes to thank Regency Village Care Center and Odyssey Hospice for the loving care they provided for Eldon.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Shepherd’s Care Ministries.
