Elaine Pierre Tyson's Obituary
Elaine Pierre Tyson age 79, of Covington passed away Tuesday morning, June 15, 2021 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to John Pierre Sr. and Naomi Keys Pierre.
She is survived by her loving husband Calvin Tyson 58 years of marriage, her only son Kyle Tyson (Rebecca), and 3 grandchildren Carlton Lear, Ninfa Lear, and Jeffery Tyson. She is also survived by her sister Faye Dennis and a host of nieces and nephews.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents John and Naomi Pierre, her 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
A native of New Orleans, lifelong resident of Covington, Elaine was the Covington Rosenwald High School Homecoming Queen in 1959. She graduated in 1966 from Aurora University with her Bachelor’s Degree in education. She had an outstanding and dedicated career as a teacher at School District 131 in Aurora, Illinois, until she retired in 2001. Elaine also volunteered at Aurora Food Bank for many years.
Growing up Elaine attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Covington until it closed; she would regularly attended St. Peter Catholic Church with her family. She became a devoted member to St. Rita Catholic Church in Aurora, Illinois.
Elaine enjoyed doing arts and crafts projects, and traveling. Her true passion was spending time with her family. She was a kind, caring person, and well liked by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all.
Father Daniel Okafor of St. Peter Catholic Church is officiating funeral services for Elaine, and proudly serving as vocalists will be Reverend Rodney Barney and Eric Washington.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00AM. Interment will take place in Garden of the Pines Cemetery.
