Elaine Jenkins Morgan's Obituary
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the age of 87, Bevie Elaine Morgan gracefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Enon, LA at the Great Southern CCC Logging Company in Camp #9 to her loving father, Calip Lee Jenkins and her loving mother, Violet Fussell Jenkins.
She was a lifelong resident of Madisonville, Lee Road, Bush and Covington areas. She loved talking about her basketball days at Madisonville Junior High and then at Covington High School. At Covington High is where she met the love of her life, Ronald “Ronnie” Paul Morgan, Sr. After they both finished high school, they were married on February 4, 1956. Elaine did many things in her 87 years of life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Elaine was always taking care of all the family needs. Then after living in Covington for over 40 years, Elaine and Ronnie decided to live their golden years together in a quite place off Stafford Road.
Elaine made herself a second home that was very important in her life. That was being a member of First Baptist Church of Covington. She was very proud to have been a member since 1956 and enjoyed being a member of the Celebration Singers. In addition to everything else, she always looked forward to her Lydia Sunday School Class and even enjoyed helping out at the Young at Heart events. She cherished her family, David Rockett, Dr. Waylon Bailey and the staff at First Baptist Church. She also cherished all her Sunday School Class members. The entire family thanks all of you for the phone calls, the visits and the prayers.
Elaine is survived by three children and their spouses, Janet Morgan Breland (Ray), Rhonda Morgan Smith (David) and Ronald “Ron” Paul Morgan, Jr. (Brenda); her eight grandchildren, Brannon Breland (Lucy), Bradley “Bubba” Breland (Sarah), Bryan Breland (Erin), Amanda Smith Fleming (Chris), Alicia Smith, Ashton Smith, Cassie Morgan Girod and Christin Morgan (Josh); and her six great-grandchildren, Heath, Benjamin and Alaina Breland, Morgan Fleming and Adeline and Everly Girod. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Jenkins Hanson; sisters-in-law, Mattie V. Jenkins and Margaret C. Jenkins and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, cousins, and wonderful family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 48 years, Ronald “Ronnie” Paul Morgan, Sr.; an infant daughter, Paula Marie Morgan; a very special aunt that was her second mother, Aunt Bevie Fussell Jenkins whom she was named after; brothers, Grady Jenkins and Larry Jenkins; sisters, Verna Lee Jenkins Hendry and Betty Jenkins Smith.
