Elaine Pearce Harrison's Obituary
Elaine Pearce Harrison passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at her home in Covington, LA at the age of 93 after a decade long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on February 26, 1925 at her home in Slidell, LA to Roland Basil Pearce and Myrtle Jewel Sullivan Pearce.
Elaine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Douglas Wayne and Marian Gautreaux Harrison; her two grandchildren Bradley Kenneth Harrison (Jes) and Natalie Harrison Holmes (Spencer); and two great-grandchildren Bella and Sam Harrison.
Elaine is preceded in death by her beloved husband Col. James Kenneth Harrison, Sr., her son James Kenneth Harrison, Jr. and her parents.
Elaine was raised in Baton Rouge, graduating from Baton Rouge High School in 1941. She interrupted schooling at LSU to work in war industries at the Standard Oil Company. During WWII she met and married James K. Harrison, a marriage that lasted 63 years until his death. Elaine was a resident of Covington for 58 years and was long time member of the First Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Elaine was a past Vice-President and active member of Playmakers. She was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose warm smile and gentle soul will be missed by her loved ones. The family would like to express grateful appreciation to Theresa Kintz, Rebecca Rhodes, and the staff of Visiting Angels for the loving care Elaine received.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
