Edward M. Trapp's Obituary
Edward M. Trapp, aged 95, passed into eternal life on January 25, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn and siblings Patricia Strassburger, Marilyn Condon, Michael (Shirley), and Anne Van Leer (John). Other survivors include his children, Timothy, Dianna Starr, Shawn (Barbara), and stepchildren Donna Ibert (John), Charles Fazzio (Jessica), and Lisa Schmidt. He is also survived by his grandchildren Renee (Jared) and Wallace Jourdan, Jr. (Tiffany), Joe Trapp (Tania), Annie Sorensen (Patrick), Charina Starr (Sydney), Christy Murphy (Ray), Adam Dufrene (Amanda), and also Jessica Mangum (Phillip), Wayne Schmidt (Alyssa), Erica Doubleday (Ryan), Sofia and Charley Fazzio and numerous other family members. Edward was born in St. Louis, MO as the eldest child of the late Edward A. and Bernice Trapp. Also preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years Donna (née Mooney), daughter Lisa Jourdan, and grandson Donnie Dufrene III.
After high school, Edward joined the army and served in Japan 1946-48. His university studies were interrupted after two years when he was recalled and served in Korea 1950-51. He graduated from St. Louis University in 1953 with a degree in geophysics and was employed by Amoco Production Co. for 36 years, retiring as Regional Geophysical Manager for Europe, Latin America, and the Far East. After retiring, he was active as a geophysical consultant for several years and remained active in the petroleum industry throughout the remainder of his life as a board member of FORTESA INTL.
His work required moving from time to time and ultimately he lived in 8 states and, at one time, 6 years in London, England. Frequent travel was also required and carried over into his retirement years as he and Carolyn enjoyed road trips, tours, and cruising.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:30 AM until Mass time.
