Edward Leroy Smith, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Houston, TX. He was born on October 1, 1955 in New Orleans, LA to Edward Leroy Smith, Sr. and Loleen Sanders Smith
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Leslie Goldsmith Smith. He was the brother of Darrell Smith (Kathy), Angelo Smith (Darlene), Marc Smith (Jackie), Ricardo Smith, Daniel Smith (Felicia), Patrick Smith (Danielle), the late Rochelle Ramsey, Antoinette Wilson, and Virginia Smith. Edward is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Edward earned his Juris Doctorate from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1982. He practiced law in New Orleans, LA and Covington, LA for 31 years. Edward had an adventurous spirit, a love for travel, and was a great cook. He never met a stranger and loved to spend Sunday watching the Saints and eating crawfish.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Center, www.mdanderson.org.
