Dr. Nelson,

I'm sorry if this is to little too late, but thank you. I had you for 3 semesters and you were always solid. I learned so much from you and I attribute most of the knowledge I learned in microbiology to you. I knew you for 10 years and I'm sorry that I couldn't ease your pain in death. Thank you for your contribution to science. I watch Kansas basketball because of you. I wish you could see the knowledge you fueled me with and the questions you stirred up in my mind. I hope to make you and everyone that's ever contributed to my knowledge proud. You can never be replaced; and I'm glad I questioned you for more. You always delivered.

I was blessed to have had Dr. Nelson as my professor in 2020. I took him for Microbiology. Though our class time started at 8am, he’d come in so full of life and enthusiasm. He will forever be in my heart. I send my prayers and condolences to his beautiful family. Heaven has truly gained an angel.
