Edward Gerard Blanchard, Sr. passed away on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the age of 86.
Beloved husband of Rita Robert Blanchard for 63 years. Loving father of Edward G. “Jerry” Blanchard, Jr. (Nicole), Martha M. Blanchard and Scott J. Blanchard (Karen). Grandfather of Jared, Dane and Kellie Blanchard. Son of the late Archangel Josephine Legendre Blanchard and Edward Sam Blanchard. Brother of Earl Blanchard (Lois).
Mr. Blanchard graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1943, served in the U.S. Army in WWII and received a Purple Heart. He retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. He was a former parishioner of St. Louise de Marillac in Arabi for 42 years and a current parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 12:30 PM with visitation at church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests masses.
