Col. Edward S. Basanez's Obituary
Colonel Edward S. Basanez of Covington, LA passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at his home. He was born in New Orleans, LA to Edward Santiago Basanez and Florence Marie Naquin.
Edward was survived by his beloved Wife, Jo Anne Heirtzler Basanez; his children Sidney and her husband "Michael" Pierson and Leslie Cook: their 8 grandchildren Kimrick Dolson, Leslie Backlin, Ryan Buck, Katie Fuller, Kyle Buck, Dan Cook, Brad Cook, and Chris Cook; and their 12 great grandchildren.
Edward retired from the US Army as Chief of Staff of the 101st Airborne Artillery at Fort Campbell, KY after 24 years of distinguished service. Following retirement from the military he earned a doctorate degree in education at Louisiana State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and a Masters Degree in business from Syracuse University. He began a new career in business management and teaching graduate courses for Florida Institute of Technology.
He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
