Edgar Anthony's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Edgar “Eddie/Billy” Anthony announces his peaceful passing on August 6, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Edgar was born in Independence, Louisiana on February 17, 1932 to Ben and Mae Anthony. Edgar wed Myrtle Norra Anthony on September 4, 1954 and raised three sons with her. Edgar was son-in-law to the late Joseph Benjamin and Florence Laine Norra. An avid outdoorsman, Edgar enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He also found great joy in spending time with his family. Edgar was a native of St. Bernard Parish and resided in Bogalusa in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Edgar worked 43 plus years as a machine attendant for Domino/Amstar Sugar Refinery in Chalmette. Edgar had three amazing friends that he always kept in touch with, Arnold Mazin, Tony Graffeo and Allie Leroy Crocker, along with a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and friends.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Myrtle Norra Anthony; his three sons, Edward Joseph Anthony (Denise), Richard Benjamin Anthony and Kenneth Michael Anthony. His siblings Houston Anthony, Bennie Mae Schilling, Emmit Anthony and Norman Anthony.
Edgar is predeceased by five siblings, ML Anthony, Eva Mae Neal, John Anthony, Ben Anthony, Jr. and Curtis Anthony.
Edgar is lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Angelle Anthony Trapani (Jonathan), Rachel Anthony Naquin, Krystle Anthony Schlesinger (Thomas), Nicole Anthony (Keith LaGrange), Chrissy Anthony Phillpott (Billy) and Kenneth Michael Anthony, Jr. Edgar is further remembered by his ten great grandchildren, Seth Trapani, Austin Trapani, Brayden Trapani, Aliyah Naquin, Payton Naquin, Delilah LaGrange, Annabelle Phillpott, William Phillpott, Wyatt Phillpott and Abigail Phillpott. He is also survived by one great-great granddaughter, Hayes Champagne and a host of nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Covington, LA. E. J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
