Durward Lee Roy Kennedy Sr.'s Obituary
Durward L. Kennedy, Sr. passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 in Slidell, LA at the age of 89. He was born on August 27, 1924 in Saint Amant, LA to the late Zennie and Hazel Bicknel Kennedy.
Durward married his beloved wife of 50 years, the late Dixie Brown Kennedy and together they had five children, Rhonda K. Fredenburg (Lee), Jane K. Amond (Rob), Matthew Kennedy (Kelli), the late Durward Kennedy, Jr. (Cheryl), and Pam K. Meyers (Hilton). He will be dearly missed by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Durward was the brother of the late Benny Kennedy and Ruth Willie.
Durward worked as a master mechanic for Exxon Chemical. He served as a member of the Free Mason Covington Lodge No. 188 for over 25 years. He was an active and involved member of Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Folsom, LA. After leaving professional life, Durward retired to his farm to enjoy raising cattle and other livestock.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 78273 Hwy 1077, Folsom, LA 70437, at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow services in Bennett Cemetery, Folsom, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Durward L.
