Douglas A. Spell Jr.'s Obituary
Douglas A. Spell, Jr. passed away on Tuesday September 21, 2021 at the age of 55. He was born February 27, 1966 in New Orleans, LA to the late Douglas A. Spell, Sr. and the late Betty Ann Overstreet Griffin.
Douglas was the beloved husband of Carol Cortez Spell for 34 years. He was the loving father of Douglas A. Spell III, Jacob C. Spell, Caleb L. Spell and Bethany G. Spell. He leaves behind his siblings, Theresa Spell Long, Wendy Gayle Griffin and Kermit (Kirk) Griffin along with his Dad, Kermit Earl Griffin.
Doug had a playful, down-to-earth personality. He loved being in nature, hunting and fishing with his boys, picking with his baby girl whom he called his princess and just spending time with family and friends. He was and is a promise keeper, a pillar of both natural and adopted family. He loved ministering to the youth in his younger days, spending late nights with them discussing scripture. He still welcomes all of them as family to this day.
He was always ready with a helping hand, offering to fix things for a neighbor or friend in need by pushing off his own projects. A devoted, God-loving husband, father, uncle, brother, son, and friend.
Though he is now present with the LORD, he will be greatly missed here. We love you Douglas Spell with ALL of our hearts!
