Douglas C. Sharp, Sr.'s Obituary
Douglas C. Sharp, Sr., age 86, of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1938, in Covington, Louisiana, to Monroe and Vernie Sharp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Vernie Keating Sharp; a sister, Janice Moore; and three brothers-in-law, August “Gus” Schultz, Jeff Abney and Kenny Stein.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Lee Sturm Sharp; children, Douglas Sharp Jr. (Erica) and David Sharp (Tara); six grandchildren, Cora Sharp, Dominick Sharp, Laney Sharp, Lincoln Sharp, Megan Lang, and E.J. Lang.. He is also survived by his siblings, Donice Abney, Patricia (Pat) Stein, Carolyn Schultz, Kenneth Sharp, Mike Sharp and Gary Sharp; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Mr. Sharp worked for Lockheed Martin for over 30 years before retiring. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening wake on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will follow in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana.
