I know how much Aunt Ducky will be missed by all of her family. I didn't know her, but my family did and I know she was a special lady. Everyday I pass her place and I'm sad to not see her house there. Mandeville will not be the same without her. All my love, Tracy
She sounded like the incredible woman of the same name that taught me in Patterson, La. at Patterson High School. My memory was jogged back to that time many years ago when I thought I remembered her telling the class that she was from Mandeville. My sorrow is that if this was my former teacher and I did not know she lived so close to me. Mrs. Langenhennig was an awesome lady that I will never forget. I feel fortunate to have had her in my life. My condolences to her family. I know she will be missed.
Aunt Ducky was a glamourous lady to me all through my youth. I loved going to visit on Jackson Street and felt as if there was a great mystery to be discovered in her and her house. It was also just plain fun to swing on the porch, play with the dog, see a color tv, experience a/c & gas logs, investigate her knick-knacks that I was allowed to touch and gaze at the ones I was not. Playing with the well spout and looking at the ceramic cat climbing the pecan tree in his seasonal clothes are other memories from a golden time and a lady who was always kind to me. It amazed me as an adult how many folks she knew and yet remembered me clearly as June and Geneva's baby. Surprisingly, she was explicitly pleased to see me go into the convent and kind about it when I left. I enjoyed every time I ever had with her.
