Dorothy Ann Durham's Obituary
Sunday morning, August 29, 2021, Dorothy "Ann" Durham, age 82, passed away peacefully at home, from complications of Alzheimer's. Ann was surrounded by her loving sisters and their families.
Ann, known by many as "Tutu," was born on October 11, 1938, the eldest child of the late Floyd R. and Minnie M. Sharpe. She was a native of New Orleans and was a long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish.
In the 50's she was a competitive artistic skater where she and her sister, Patsy, skated for Koppelman's Skateland in the 9th ward of New Orleans.
She assumed a variety of roles during her lifetime, but was especially proud of the years she spent working for the NOPD with the K-9 and Mounted division. She loved retelling stories of Mardi Gras chaos and the fun times at the barn. She retired to the Northshore where she lived much of the past 30 years.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard "Keith" Durham. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Celeste, sisters, Patsy Mericle, Sharon Sharpe, brother, Floyd Sharpe, 8 grandchildren, Amanda Jackson, Keneisha Durham, Abigail Durham, Lauren Durham, John Robert Durham, Kai Celeste, Zachary Celeste, Giovonni Celeste, and 2 great-grandchildren, Kalah Jackson, Brynn Jackson, and also dear nieces and nephews.
