Doris Young Ottinger's Obituary
Doris Young Ottinger died on Saturday, March 10, 2007, in Lafayette, after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 9, 1919, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Stella and Loree Young. She graduated from Lake Charles High School and attended business school in Lake Charles.
Mrs. Ottinger was a long time resident of Covington, Louisiana. She was predeceased by her husband Dan Ottinger, Jr., and a sister Ruth Rollins. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Cheryl Ottinger of Lafayette and Michael and Jackie Ottinger of Lincolnton, North Carolina; Grandsons Talbott and Stuart Ottinger of Nashville, Tennessee; and a brother Dr. Loree Young, Jr. of Sulphur, Louisiana.
Mrs. Ottinger was active in civic and cultural matters serving as a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts, President of the Lafayette Parish Home Demonstration Club and was a member of the Covington Garden Club and served as President and was a founding member of the Tchefuncte Garden Club in Covington.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of her life on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433. A visitation will be held before the services beginning at 9:00 AM. Internment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Garden, adjacent to E. J. Fielding Funeral Home. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 128 Demanade Boulevard, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.
