Doris Ann Lapara Dainello's Obituary
Doris Ann Lapara Dainello, at the age of 75, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Dainello; her children, Amy Dainello and Ashley Masters; and grandchildren, Maddie Masters and Willie “Bubba” Masters. She is also survived by her niece, Mary Lapara Dupre; her and her husband’s great family friends, Ron Plaiscia and Liz Winslow; and many wonderful lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gasper Lapara and Doris Roux; her brother, Robert Lapara; her uncles, Roy Roux and August Roux Jr.; and her niece Jennifer Lapara.
Starting out her career as a librarian, Doris was a graduate from Louisiana State University in education. She worked in the school system in St. Bernard Parish for over 40 years and was assistant principal at Gauthier Elementary school for 15 years. She was an avid reader; she loved literature and sharing what she enjoyed reading with her loved ones. Her loved ones refer to her as a great storyteller. She was a phenomenal baker and cook, known for her traditional Christmas cookies that her whole family looked forward to every year. She was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan and was known to host lively parties to celebrate the game with an array of food to share with her loved ones. Her husband and family would say she was one of the best cooks in Louisiana. She didn’t know any stranger - once she met someone, she took them into her heart.
She loved her family more than anything else. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
