Donice Thompson, Sr. on Sunday, October 7, 2007.
He was a life resident of Folsom, LA, born to the late James A. and Martha Willie Thompson on June 7, 1928. He is survived by his loving daughter Joann Thompson.; three sons: Donice, Jr. “Bubby” and his wife Jeanette, John and Dylan Thompson; two grandchildren, Kelton Thompson and Jennifer Thompson; one brother, Delos Thompson, Sr. and a sister, Lynn T. Crutchfield. He was preceded in death by one brother, James H. “Red” Thompson and one sister, Elma Thompson.
Donice grew up on a large family dairy farm on Bennett Bridge Rd. and was a longtime member of Bogue Falaya Baptist Church. In 1964, he bought 1200 Acres along the Bennett Bridge road and the Little Tchefuncta River for farming, raising beef cattle and for what would be his first real estate development venture. He would continue successfully with efforts in land development and working with cattle, but his true passion was training and racing Quarter Horses. In 1982, he owned the Horse of the Year which received national recognition.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from 9:00-10:30 AM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Graveside services will begin at 11:00 AM at the Allison Cemetery.
