Donald Eugene Stump's Obituary
Donald Eugene Stump was born on August 12, 1931 in Elmira, New York and died on December 31, 2020 at his home in Mandeville, Louisiana. Don grew up in Elmira, New York. He graduated from Southside High School. He served in the Navy from 1951-1954 during the Korean War. He married Lois Jean Learn on July 11, 1953. They lived in Elmira, New York where they raised six children. Don was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was a coach, scout leader, umpire, painter, plumber, electrician, financial advisor, and so much more. In 1978, Don and Lois and four of their children moved to Mandeville, Louisiana. He was a member of the Pioneers, a volunteer network helping military families, protecting the environment, education, life enrichment, and health and human services. He retired from Bell South in 1993.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Learn Stump; his parents, Kenneth and Gladys Stump; his brother Paul Stump and his sister Sally Karam. He is survived by his sister, Lois (Charles) Little, and his children Sheryl Stump (Rick Torgerson), April (Martin) McCray, Ron Stump, Jim Stump, Linda Stump, Jerry (Sharon) Stump, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the services in Mandeville Cemetery, Mandeville, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
