Donald Steven Reed's Obituary
Donald “Don” S. Reed of Abita Springs, LA passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was born on December 10, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to George Reed and Olga Kussman Reed.
Don is survived by his sister-in-law Lorraine Waguespack (the late Wilson); his brother-in-law Roland Hosch (the late Shirell); his nieces Tonia Costa, Tiffany Mire (Heath), and Lori Groce (Richard); and his nephews Terry Gabriel, Charles Gabriel, Leo Gabriel, Roland Hosch, Jr. (Connie), Mark Hosch (Kasey), Christopher Hosch (Sunni), and Donald Hosch, Jr. (Ivy). He is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Carolyn Ann Hosch Reed, and his sister-in-law Doris Hosch Gabriel.
Don was a native of the greater New Orleans area, a resident of Abita Springs for the past twenty years where he was a parishioner and usher at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church. Donald retired as Captain of the Narcotics Division at Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department after 25 years of service. Don was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Marier Roberts for her dedication to Don over the past several years, as well as his many friends who had a great impact on his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St, Abita Springs, LA 70420 on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Friday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Donald to be made to the charity of your choice or to The Fraternal Order of Police.
