Donald Eugene Lagarde, Jr.'s Obituary
Donald Eugene Lagarde, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8th at the age of 89 due to complications of Alzheiemer’s. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on February 16, 1928, and was raised in New Orleans. He is predeceased by his wife Jeannine Seuzeneau Lagarde, his brother Robert, his sister Kathleen L. Virden and his parents Elizabeth and Donald Lagarde, Sr. He is survived by four sons, Donald E. (Dorothy) of Fairhope, Alabama, Christopher C. (Dana) of Austin, Texas, Jonathan D. (Catherine) of Covington and G. Brooke of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Mary Helen, Lizzie, Ann Baker, Davis, Caroline, Chase and Trudy Lagarde. He graduated from Fortier High and Tulane University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a career life insurance manager and broker working at Commercial Union, Provident Life and Accident and his own brokerage, Insurance Concepts until his retirement. Serving over 30 years, he was especially proud of being a Marine having attained the rank of Colonel. He was a devoted Catholic and a Man of Manresa having made 35 retreats, usually during the special time of Holy Week. He attended St. Anselm Catholic Church. Don also served his community having served on many boards including St. Joseph Abbey’s Advisory Board, The Catholic Foundation and Tchefuncta Country Club. The family would like to thank Beau Provence Memory Care and Passages Hospice Care for the wonderful care that he received in his last years. Don’s funeral will be held Friday October 13, 2017 at 2:00 at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Rd, St Benedict, LA with the burial following at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. Prior to the mass, visitation will be at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W.21st Avenue, Covington, LA from 12:00-1:30 on Friday.
