Donald "Don" Joseph Boudreaux's Obituary
Donald “Don” Joseph Boudreaux
(November 14, 1933 – May 25, 2026)
Donald “Don” Joseph Boudreaux, age 92, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Judith “Judy” Boudreaux, who preceded him in death, and the cornerstone of a family that meant everything to him.
Born in New Orleans on November 14, 1933, to Gilmore and Jeanette Boudreaux, Don grew up with the strong work ethic, competitive spirit, and deep faith that defined his life. A gifted athlete, he excelled in basketball and track at St. Paul’s High School in Covington, later earning induction into the school’s Hall of Fame. He continued his basketball career at Loyola University, where he formed lifelong friendships.
Don proudly served in the United States Army before building a successful career as an entrepreneur. As the owner of Boudreaux’s Jewelers and a real estate investor, he was known not only for his business acumen, but for his integrity, loyalty, and commitment to supporting his community.
He will be remembered for his tireless work ethic and boundless energy. Whether opening his store early, working late, or staying active at home and the family river house, Don was always in motion. He loved the outdoors and lived an active life—hunting, fishing, and playing tennis and golf well into his later years, often joking with a smile that he had recently shot less than his age.
Don was equally known for his generosity, humility, and quick humor. He took pride in setting an example for those around him—work hard, do your best, and take care of others—and he was always willing to help anyone in need.
His Catholic faith was central to his life, guiding his service as President of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the New Orleans Chapter of Legatus, as well as his annual retreats to Manresa Jesuit Retreat House.
Above all, Don’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children: Karen Boudreaux, Brian Boudreaux (Leslie), David Boudreaux, Marcy Boudreaux St. Martin (Michael), Christy Boudreaux Wheeler (Randy), Donald Boudreaux, Jr., Thomas Boudreaux (Bridgette), and Daniel Boudreaux (Kelly). He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Known affectionately as “PawPaw,” he cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who looked forward to his visits—often unannounced, always welcome. He had a remarkable way of connecting with others, and it was nearly impossible to go anywhere without being stopped by someone eager to greet him—especially after Mass.
To his children, he was a hero—steady, present, and always there when it mattered most.
Funeral services will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, on Wednesday, June 3rd, with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm followed by Mass at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana, at 2:00pm and burial thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New Orleans in honor of Don’s lifelong commitment to faith and service.
Don Boudreaux lived a full and meaningful life defined by faith, hard work, generosity, and love for family. His legacy will live on in all who knew and loved him.
