Don E. Smith, Sr.'s Obituary
Don Edward Smith,Sr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, January 24, 2009.
He was 78. Born in Etowah, TN to the late Fred and Kate Dunn Smith he is survived by his beloved wife Joan King Smith; three sons: Donnie, Randy (Adele) and Steve (Lisa) Smith; two step-sons, Steve (Charlotte) and Chris (Marianne) King; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Dewayne (Jayne) Smith; one sister, Joan (Robert) Clark and one sister-in-law, Louise Hampton.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, served as a Member of the Slidell City Council, taught Real Estate for the Lincoln Institute, he was a Notary Public and was also Chief Deputy Assessor for St. Tammany Parish.
His favorite hobbies were community theatre, traveling, photography and cooking.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow services at the Mandeville Cemetery.
