I have been living in San Antonio for over a year and just found out, reading an old Clarion Herald in the Internet, about the death of deacon Don. He and his wife Karen had been our benefactors for a good amount of time, and I always marveled at the way God worked in their lives. Deacon Don always had God as his priority, and as I was overjoyed when he became a deacon, since it was visible that he had a great desire to be of service. St. Peter's parish has now another intercessor in heaven.

As a friend of Don's youngest son, Brett, I always felt welcome in his company. Whether I was just stopping in to say hi or being treated to lunch, Don (and Karen) always treated me like one of their own which was especially comforting for me as I was a Louisiana transplant, far from my home. My prayers are with him and his family <3

Deacon Don was a wonderful servant of the Lord. He performed all of his duties with such joy and a serious desire to bring others closer to the Lord. He had a wonderful sense of humor in all situations. He will be missed by so many people. We are sending our sincerest condolences to Karen, sons, family, and friends at this time of great loss. Tommy and I will miss Don so very much. We enjoyed our many conversations and lunches together over the years. We will keep Don's mission towards prison ministry in our constant prayers in his memory and we will remember St. Joseph Abbey in our prayers and gifts. Pray for us Deacon Don... until we meet again.

Deacon Don will be missed at St. Peter Church. He had a beautiful smile always, even when he wasn’t feeling well. When a deacon was needed to do a baptism or funeral, he was the first to volunteer. His homily’s were great, what we needed to hear.
Karen, May God give you and your family His grace and support. Deacon Don will be missed and never forgotten. I am grateful for his friendship.
