Genie was such a delight. The whole room lit up when she came in. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends
I remember about 3 years ago or so when I was at Spring Hill, I went through a really hard time with some personal things with my family. I was very broken and felt so lost. I remember calling Ms. Genie crying hysterically just venting about it all. No matter what she was doing, she took the time to listen to me and always knew the right thing to say. Not only was she honest, but she said exactly want needed to be said to mend the broken pieces of my heart. Thank you, Ms. Genie, for always believing in me and allowing me to share my heart with you. I will miss our chats very much. I hope you’re eating an endless supply all of your favorite desserts! She was the one person that loved sweets as much as I do:)
I woke up this morning and started remembering all the wonderful times we had together as a family, whether it was a graduation, or a birthday party, or the holidays, you made each one of those already great events indescribably better. It was the genuine love and kindness shown by you that made everything exceptional. I love you my beautiful mother and although you are looking down on us from heaven and will be with us all the days of our life. But until we meet again at the gates of heaven I'll say for now "bye bye see ya"
While I have countless good memories of my mom, one in particular sticks out to me this morning. For 8 summers, we would work a summer camp, Creation Sensation, together. Over the years, we created a playlist of songs, Camp Music as we called it, that would be our little pump-up playlist for the day. It featured various artists such as the Lumineers, Aerosmith, Boston, and many more, but it ALWAYS culminated in Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. We made sure that that was the last song everyday. At 5:55, right when the guitar solo would hit, my mom would yell, “Turn it up!!!” Then for the remainder of the song we wouldn’t say a word, just would jam to the music; I’m sure everyone who saw us thought we were insane. That made our 7 am car rides bearable. It became tradition; we looked forward to it everyday.
We had the exact same taste. Mom, thank you for giving me such a good taste in music, just one of the many gifts you gave me. I wish we had a couple more car rides left together so that we could jam some more.
I hope they’re blasting some good music for you up there, I know we will be down here. Love you forever.
Working with Genie has been an awesome time getting know each other and become friends…her passion for teaching kids about life experiences was amazing and including me in speaking to the CES high school kids from bullying to her putting together the Sudden Impact program for the kids…sharing my own experiences with the kids and Genie with losing my own child really helped us understand each other even more…she was an amazing and kind lady and always cared about others especially when it came to kids…Genie thank you for calling me a friend and sharing the love we have as friends the last time I got to see you…never told a co-worker that I love them but definitely loved you as a person and a friend…I’ll always remember holding your hand and telling me you loved me that day in the hospital before I left your room…you will be missed Genie thank you for always including Officer David in your teachings…CES has lost an incredible teacher and the world has lost an amazing lady.
