Diane Lange Young's Obituary
Diane Lange Young passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024. She was born in New Orleans, LA on September 4, 1946.
Diane is survived by her loving daughter, Laura Young Marquez; her grandsons, Alexander Marquez (Sadie), Christopher Marquez, and her Great Granddaughter Rhyia L. Marquez; her loving brothers Charlie Lange and Mike Lange (Susan); and many nieces and nephews who were so dear to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerald (Jerry) George Young and her parents Catherine Reeks Lange, Donald Paul Lange, her sister Peggy Lange Henehan and granddaughter in law Anjel Wilcox.
Diane was a native of New Orleans and graduated from F.T. Nicholls High School.
Following the death of her father and father-in-law from Alzheimer’s Disease, Diane started working with the National Alzheimer’s Association and founded the first chapter in New Orleans in 1984. Diane worked tirelessly with other volunteers to provide support and information for caregivers throughout Louisiana. Diane brought the first Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease to Audubon Park in New Orleans. She traveled throughout the State of Louisiana fundraising, sharing information on Alzheimer’s Disease, and providing educational support to caregivers. Diane took her fight for Alzheimer’s research funding to our nation’s capital and worked with local and national legislators to increase funding for Alzheimer’s Disease research. Diane continued to support Alzheimer’s caregivers and research efforts as a member of the National Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association for over 10 years.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Visitation on Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m.
