Derril "D.T." Simon Tyrney's Obituary
Derril “D.T.” Simon Tyrney passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2011 surrounded by her loving family and was welcomed into heaven with open arms by the love of her life, Spike. A resident of Madisonville since 1950, she was born May 14, 1935 in Ponchatoula, LA to the late Anatole J. and Amy Chauvin Simon.
The beloved wife of the late Leon L. “Spike” Tyrney, Sr., she is survived by her daughter, Kim Tyrney Howard (John); two sons, Barney T. (Jenine) and Leon L. “Lee” Tyrney, Jr. (Kitten); one sister, Sybil S. Fleckinger; six grandchildren: Jeremy Cox (Nicole), Kelli and Kayla Howard, Roy Shubert (Chrystie), Joey Tyrney and Katie Tyrney and four great grandchildren: Kenny and Cody Cox, Alyssa and Braden Shubert. She is also survived by her very special friend and sister-in-law, Velma Simon. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Anatole “A.J.”, Murphy, Alton “Pimp” and Lester Simon and one sister, Audrey Worthy.
Our mother and grandmother enjoyed life with her family; also bowling, throwing horseshoes and family gatherings. She was a very giving and special person who brought joy and happiness to everyone she touched. She will truly be missed and never forgotten.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 27, 2011 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
A wake is scheduled for Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 5-9:00 PM with visiting hours beginning Monday at 9:00 AM until mass.
Interment at The Theodore Dendinger Cemetery in Madisonville will immediately follow mass.
