Dennis Eugene Pigg's Obituary
Dennis Eugene Pigg passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 after succumbing to a long battle with MDS. He was born in Newport, AR on March 7, 1949.
Mr. Pigg was a Marine Corps Staff Sgt. who served two tours of duty in an Engineering Battalion along the De-Militarized Zone in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He served six proud years with the Corps and finished out his military career with 21 years in the United States Naval Reserve, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4.
His passion was coaching his grandkids and their friends. He coached boys and girls in baseball, softball, and basketball. He had a vested interest in Vista Playground as Park President for at least 10 years and coached travel ball as well. “Coach Dennis” is considered by many as one of their most memorable coaches.
He is survived by his previous wife, Elvera Pigg and his children, Shannon Bearden (Jay) and Michael Pigg (Julie); his grandchildren: Josh and Ethan Bearden; Michael, Andrew, Lauren, Catherine and Elizabeth Pigg. He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Pigg and Roy Dale Pigg, four half brothers, Troy (Butch) Pigg, Troy Lynn Pigg, Jimmy Pigg, and William Gaines, and one half sister Mary Lou Whitlow. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae Emogene Moon Gaines and Troy Eugene Pigg, sister Emma Gail Foster, brother-in-law, John Foster, half brother Rickey Pigg and one grandson Christopher Pigg.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon until service time. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Road, Saint Benedict LA 70457.
