David Samuel Wilson's Obituary
David Samuel Wilson passed away on February 15th, 2023 at the age of 59. Dave was born on April 5th, 1963 to Mary Ann Harrer and the late Eugene Wilson. He is survived by his mother, his wife of almost 25 years, Joyce Wilson, his two children, Zachary Wilson and Zara Wilson. He is also survived by his 11(20) siblings, Cappy Hutchison (Patrick), April Wilson, Tim Wilson (Karen), Rebecca Wilson, Mark Wilson (Yulia), John Wilson (Lisa), Eric Wilson (Deena), Audrey Keller (Warner), Mark Harrer (JoAnn), Jennifer Bordner (Doug), and Dan Harrer (Shawna); 26 nieces/nephews, 14 great- nieces/nephews and lots of cousins and friends.
Dave was a proud resident of Covington, Louisiana since 2003 and is known as a respected woodworker and musician to the locals. An avid cat-lover, cook, artist, and owner of Wilson Woodworks, David leaves behind quite the legacy.
Dave loved cooking for his family using everything but the kitchen sink. He would impress his friends with his exotic pallet by taking spoonfuls of wasabi and chugging bottles of Tobasco. He even created his own super spicy hot sauce he titled after his nickname: "Dangerous Dave".
David played bass guitar for the band Mr. Ectomy, Orange, Split Image, and the local Joe Manuel Band. He also recorded an album with the Slow Motion Riders in 2017. Dave was particularly proud of his custom six string bass and his Les Paul Gibson guitar.
David adored his wife and children, passing on as much of his skills as he could to them. There wasn't a room he could go into without walking out with 10 new friends. He listened to Frank Zappa, talked in his sleep, would wear the same clothes till they were tattered, and could never figure out how to use his cell phone. Dave was a man who found exactly what he liked and never changed that. In other words, a cool guy.
