David West's Obituary
David West passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Jeannette Houlemard West. Loving father of David West, Jr., Donna West Grant (Gregory), Alan West, Sr., Lisa West Valido and the late Brian West, Sr. Grandfather of David West III (Rachel), Keren West Johnson, Dr. Stephanie Grant, Gregory Grant, Jr. (Tysha), Alan West, Jr. (Jalisa), Kristy West, Steven West, Brian West, Jr., Olivia West, Ryan Valido and Alexander Valido. Great-grandfather of Caleb West, Chloe West, Sanford Johnson III, Allison West, Aliyah West, Kristian Burton, Isaiah Burton and Lily West. He was also preceded in death by his mother Annie Erickson Knox. Beloved brother of Jaunita Hornsby (Nello), Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mr. West was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. He apprenticed in many different areas of construction and became a master tradesman. He restored many historical properties in the French Quarter and built new homes including the home he built for his beloved wife. He retired at the age of 80. Mr. West was a Korean War veteran and took great pride in his service. Upon his return to the states, the VA awarded him a scholarship where he earned a certification in business. Not long after his return, he met the love of his life and they were married six months later. He cherished family-time. His children have fond memories of family camping trips and numerous vacations. His joy for life continued throughout his 92 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447 on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation at church on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Rd., Slidell, LA 70460 on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
