Nancy, I was so sorry to heard of Dave's passing. You and the boys are in my prayers. Unable to be with you tonight in Baltimore as I am travelling to CA to visit our daughter. Remember the good times, our travels together, learning to use chop sticks and long airplane flights. Dave did a super job in Baltimore and New Orleans. Nancy, when my "ex" Jim Matthews called me the other day to tell me of this news, a flood of fond memories came pouring out. You & I being friends at work & you & David & Jim & I going out to dinners & our numerous times spent at the house with you two & Eric & Jeff. Such good times. The news of David's passing saddened me but I also celebrated his life & his accomplishments as a husband, a father, & his work with the ports of MD & New Orleans. I know your faith will comfort you but I also know 49 yrs with the love of your life is bittersweet. You two were so blessed to have each other. My thoughts & prayers are with you & Jeff & Eric. Sad to hear of Dave's departure to a place without having to leave forwarding address (as I heard a priest once say at a funeral). He was always my favorite executive to work with when I was Human Resources director at Port NOLA. Sometimes I made him laugh and always told him the truth even if it made him frown or worse. And he let me cry behind his closed office door because he knew that was my only safe haven and always offered me a Kleenex and "get it together time" before I went in the hall. Know he applied the "Nancy test" (because he told me so) often in making his decisions to produce the most benevolent outcome for members of the port employee family as well as the port. He admired and loved you Nancy, as a superb life partner and family builder and gave you the credit for his and your sons success. I will always remember him fondly.
Mr. Wagner was a gentle person who stood tall with a friendly smile on his face. He cared for those who he had charge over. A charge to keep he had, a God to glorify. My condolences to Mrs. Wagner and family.

Dear Nancy, Jeff & Eric,I was very sad to learn about the death of Dave. While there are no words to express how you must be feeling, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.It was a privilege to have served as his secretary at the Maryland Port Administration. He was smart, kind, hard-working and just a wonderful person. I have very fond memories of my visit to New Orleans, especially dining at Commander's Palace.May you find comfort knowing that he is at peace in the Lord's presence.Love,
