Darrell Fauntleroy's Obituary
Darrell Fauntleroy passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born on January 26, 1938 in Covington, LA to the late Aswell Fauntleroy and Lattell Keating Fauntleroy. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Lucy Revere Fauntleroy. Loving father of Clayton Fauntleroy (Bettie) and Robin F. Jarrell (Ritter). Proud grandfather to Joshua Fauntleroy (Abbey), Seth Fauntleroy (Allisyn), Lindsey Rainey (Riley), Lydia Jarrell, and Leif Jarrell. Great grandfather to LaineyLynn Fauntleroy. Brother to James Fauntleroy (Paula) and the late Linda Tinney (the late Kenneth). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Darrell, a life-long resident of St. Tammany, loved quail hunting, singing southern gospel music, and his cattle. He initially started working at Prestressed operating a crane, and then later ventured out on his own, creating a business that has flourished for over 42 years. Above all, Darrell cherished his relationship with the Lord and his family the most.
He always referred to his grandchildren as his blessings, and never went without telling them that they were loved. He loved to tell his family stories about fond memories and life growing up on the farm with his siblings. Darrell firmly believed in a handshake and his word. He was always there to lend an ear when his family needed someone to talk to and would give advice when needed. On Sunday afternoons, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends on his front porch. His favorite departing line was “Keep your powder dry and y’all be sweet.”
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at New Zion Baptist Church, 17387 New Zion Church Road Covington, LA 70435 on Saturday January 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation on day beginning 9:00 AM.
