Daniel Alfred Post's Obituary
Daniel Alfred Post, age 81, of Covington, Louisiana passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 29, 1940, to Alfred Thomas Post and Ann Bunch Post. When he was a teenager, his family moved to New Orleans where he graduated from Warren Easton High School. After attending LSU, he received his Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School; he practiced law in the New Orleans area for over 50 years.
What Dan valued most in life was his family. Spending time with his wife Martha, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was the most important thing in the world to him. He welcomed everyone into his home, and some became family to him. He touched so many lives and became a father figure to others who needed guidance and mentoring in their lives. He was a model of integrity and took the time to invest in the lives of others. Dan took people under his wing and helped them in numerous ways, no matter what it took.
To Dan, nothing was better than hosting family and friends to share a good meal, some espresso, limoncello, a glass of wine, and good conversation. He loved to entertain, was a great storyteller, and always had a joke ready to tell. His personality filled the room. Dan also never met a stranger. He talked to just about anyone wherever he went and always had a positive word to say.
He was an avid traveler and enjoyed planning adventurous road trips to take his family all across North America. He never tired of regaling people with the stories of his many vacations. Italy was his absolute favorite, and he would fondly recall his numerous trips there with tears rolling down his cheeks, always longing to go back one more time.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Martha Blaize Post, his daughters Samantha Anderson (Terry), Susan Carter (Howell), and Heidi Post. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Andrew Carter (Lucie), Caroline Carter Gordon (Andrew), Lily Carter, Katherine Brennan, and Ryan Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Aimee Carter, Susan Carter, Eli Cheramie, and Benjamin Gordon; honorary daughter, Marylea Fears and honorary son, John LaBruzzo. He was pre-deceased by his beloved dog Sadie. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and always remembered in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, 1-800-805-5856; https://www.stjude.org/.
