Daniel J. Mizell's Obituary
Daniel J. Mizell passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008. He was born December 4, 1920 in Sugartown, LA to the late Eugene and Annie Terrell Mizell and has been a resident of the Lee Road Community for most of his life.
He is the beloved father of Sarah “Sam” Mizell Ramser and John H. Johnson, Jr., he is survived by one brother, Shelton Mizell; five grandchildren: Leslie Johnson, Patri Talley, Russell Ramser, James Ramser, II and Brie Ramser; 12 great-grandchildren: Dustin, Logan, Bailey, Peyton, Amber, Paige, Kaylon, Makayla, Dawson, Arreanna, Natalie, Tyler and one great-great granddaughter, Brooklyn Crawford. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Myrtle Stogner Mizell Pace; his wife, Vera Smith Johnson Mizell; three brothers: Willie, Sr., Howard and Floyd Mizell; his sister, Clarice Adams and a great-granddaughter, Megan Crawford.
Mr. Mizell served in the U.S. Army, with four tours of duty during World War II, he retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and was an active member of the Lee Road United Pentecostal Church and the American Legion Post #0401 in Baton Rouge.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel at Lee Road Pentecostal Church, 17700 Highway 40, Covington, LA 70435.
Visiting hours at the Church will begin at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow services at the Mizell Cemetery in Isabel, LA.
