Daniel Clayton "Danny" Fortun's Obituary
Daniel Clayton Fortun, "Danny", passed away at his home after celebrating his 50th birthday with his wife and children. He was born on June 2, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Michelle Price Fortun; his children, Danielle Brionne Phillips, Sophia Renee Fortun, and Marley Olivia Fortun; and a granddaughter, Skylar Rae Bahena. He is also survived by his mother, Amy Soileau Peralta; beloved stepfather, Steven Peralta; sister, Sara Nicole Hession; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father,
Clayton Albert Fortun.
Danny was raised in Algiers, Louisiana, and attended O. Perry Walker High School before becoming a third generation firefighter as an Operator and EMT for the City of New Orleans. He continued his decorated career in public service in multiple locations including Mobile, Alabama, Lacombe, Louisiana, and Abita Springs, Louisiana. He was honored with the Firefighter of Year award by the City of Abita Springs in 2018. He also explored various career pathways attaining his Real Estate Agent and Home Inspector licenses. Danny was a fitness enthusiast and enjoyed his time at the gym. He achieved first place in World Gym's over 500# deadlift weightlifting competition in 2003.
Danny's daughter, Danielle, was born in 1994 and made him a grandfather when her daughter, Skylar Rae, was born in 2017. He married his wife, Michelle Price Fortun, in 2004 who shared his passion for fitness, traveling, and engaging in intellectually challenging activities such as playing chess, competing in interactive trivia games, and completing the New York Time games together daily. Danny and Michelle took great pride in their adventurous and adoring daughters, Sophia and Marley, spending time in their swimming pool and taking exciting trips to unique locations around the country.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday June 13, 2026, at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21" Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM, services beginning at 2:30 PM.
