Dale Allen Padgett, 74, of Covington, LA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, LA. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Wanda Lowery Padgett; his daughter, Shannon Mikell; h Read Obituary
He was my friend. He and I were in middle school together, course we were educators with middle school mentality. He should best be remembered for all those projects from animal clocks, pin hole cameras, wood projects, and so many other innovative lessons that could fill pages describing. I'm sure some remember the dropped pan if you went to sleep in his class. We shared a passion for boats though I liked power and his were sail. At Pace Middle and Avalon we tried to keep things interesting for staff also. Like trading teacher desk one afternoon or one of my favorite putting tootsie rolls in kitty litter in Karla's class one after noon before an open house activity. She got even, actually ahead, by putting 50 pounds of kitty litter in his kayak. His group of "boat people" actually constructed a boat. I had the opportunity with our friend Dennis to visit with Dale last September. We spent hours talking and laughing and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. My Christian faith guarantees we will meet again. My prayers shall continue for Wanda, Shannon, and the grands.
Mr. Dale was one of the most selfless people ever. He was always asking what people needed and when they needed it. He exemplified what the Church is supposed to do. He personified what the body of Christ is. I can’t wait to see him again. :)

After nearly forty years, my clock is still hanging on the wall. I hadn't seen Dale or Wanda in many years, but I think about them often. He had a greater influence in the lives of the kids he taught than he would ever know. Well, he probably knows now as he's in Glory and the seeds he planted in young minds have grown and blossomed into fruit for the Lord. I'm saddened to hear of his passing, but I know that we will see him again. When i do, I'll tell him he looks funny without his mustache.
I personally never got to meet Dale Allen Padgett, but I was bless to meet his wife Ms. Dale, while spending 47 days in ICU with my wife (Elma Jean Smith) during the same time period, they both died the same day. The first time Ms. Dale met me she offered to pray for my wife and family, she gave me hope and the days we came in contact with each other, Ms. Dale would tell me would be praying for my wife and family, so think you Ms. Dale and may God smile on you and your family, and that Mr. Dale rest in peace.

I first met Dale in the connect group at First Baptist Church in Covington several years ago. He was a co-leader with Ethan. Dale was a God-loving gentleman that always had a smile on his face. His love for God, his sense of humor, and loving nature was an inspiration to us all. He will be missed! May God bless his family.
One of the finest men I ever met. Dale had a great sense of humor to go along with a tremendous depth of wisdom. There are alot of good memories associated with Dale and Wanda. He was simply a good man and I truly believe you would not find a person who had a bad word to say about Dale. I appreciate all that both he and Wanda did for me in life. They were very much like an extra set of parents to me and many others. He will be missed.
What a good man! I was in his class back around 1986 and I still have the clock he helped me make. I have thought of him over the years and it’s incredible to see what a great life he lived. May you rest in peace and your family find comfort with all of the good that you have done and with the smiles that happened because of you.

Mr Padgett was one of favorite teachers in Middle School. I still have “Tool Box” that I made in his class back in 1978. He was always cracking jokes and was always telling me that I could do anything if I’d just try. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing but I’ve kept the tool box to remind me that I can do anything if I try! My prayers are with his family. May the memories be forever close.
